Back to School

A routine when they come home

  1. Hang up backpacks
  2. Wash hands
  3. Snack
  4. Homework
    • Have supplies ready or at hand
    • Station

Amy mentioned Sean Covey’s “Work First Then Play” is from “The 7 Habits of Happy Kids”. In the adult version, by Stephen Covey the principle is called “First Things First.”

Night and morning routines

  • Take care of papers the night before
  • Set everything up the night before (backpacks are hung up, lunch money checks, etc.)

If there is time in the morning, have the kids take care of some chores so they can play and get out the door to other activities or play with friends in the afternoon.

Sometimes you have to get children up early to practice piano so they can do sports in the afternoon.
